Sweet pongal

            SWEET PONGAL (SAKKARA PONGAL)


INGREDIENTS:

  •             Raw rice           - 1 cup
  •          Yellow dhal (small in size dhal)  - ½ tumbler
  •          Jaggery   - 2 cups
  •         Ghee  -1 cup
  •         Cashew nuts  - 1 tsp
  •         Dry grapes  - 1 tsp
  •            Camphor   - a pinch
  •         Cardamoms powdered  -4 nos
  •         Milk   - 1 tumbler 
  •          Water   - 4 tumbler

    METHOD:

    1.       In a cooker cook rice &dhal with water as usual. And keep it aside.

    2.       Take another pan, Melt jaggery with little water and allow it to settle. Strain the jaggery water and keep it aside.

    3.       Mash the rice,dhal mixture lightly with a ladle. Then pour  jaggery water  into the mixture.Stir well and then add milk .Stir well.

    4.       In slow  flame cook it for 15 minutes and turn off the flame. Then Add fried cashew, cardamom,dry grapes and ghee. Stir well. Then your dish is ready. (camphor- optional)

     

     


    Note: fry the dhal in the pan without pouring oil, fry and then put it in the rice.
